Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Indian Wedding - Meera & Mickey

March 27, 2019

Interesting journey of Meera Ghayal & Mickey Gupta From M&M to MGsquared.

Meera says:

I first met Mickey about five and a half years ago when we were taking a class together in Chicago. I wasn’t looking for a relationship at the time, and we fell into an easy friendship. It wasn’t long before I saw there was something special and different about him.

We fell in love without meaning to, and so we gave our relationship a chance. Shortly after, I moved back to New Jersey for school, and due to timing and distance, we decided to end our relationship.  However, I knew our story wasn’t over and that I had just met the man I would end up marrying.

Mickey says,

After Meera and I went our separate ways, I made sure that we remained friends, recognizing that there was something special about her that I wanted to learn more about.

We met up a few times over the next year, and each time, the spark was still undeniably there. The distance presented its fair share of obstacles, but we always found our way back to each other.

It was when I went to Philadelphia for a few months that I decided to make her my lady once and for all. She moved away yet again, this time to Florida for her residency, but now our relationship was stronger than ever. We came to depend on each other to overcome the hard times and celebrate the good times, and thus we learned how valuable our connection is.

After three and a half years of dating and a beautiful proposal at sunset in the Bahamas, we started planning our Gujarati-Punjabi wedding.

Our first priority was to make sure that both of our families meet. We had an intimate roka ceremony in Albany, then the wedding planning started in earnest!

While discussing the Ghayal family’s Gujarati customs and the Gupta family’s Hindu Punjabi traditions, we discovered that there was a lot more in common between both cultures than we realized.

Next to be discussed was the size of the wedding and the location. Both of us are very family-oriented and wanted a smaller, more personable wedding to reflect that.

We also envisioned a destination wedding at a tropical locale. We fell in love with Clearwater Beach from its white sand, abundant palm trees, and the ease with which our closest family and friends could get there. The rest of the details fell seamlessly into place after that, and we had the most incredible wedding on December 8th, 2018!

To make our dream day come true, we enlisted an A-team of vendors.

We worked with

Roseli Aguilar-Diaz at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa, where all of our functions were held.

Our wedding ceremony took place on the Sky Terrace overlooking the clear blue skies and pristine waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

We were able to have a beach wedding without dealing with the sand!

Nirali Patel and her team at Nirali Decor enhanced this breathtaking venue with their elegant floral and fabric mandap.

Accompanying the baraat along the beach was BJ Josan, the dynamic Jupji on the dhol, and the entire Dhol Beat International team. They also did a fantastic job at the reception, keeping the dance floor packed until the early morning.

Amit Kumar, the owner and head chef of Ashirwad, kept our guests well fed with a wide variety of visually appealing and delectable dishes.

To coordinate the multiple moving parts and ensure that we remained stress free, we enlisted Cyndi Benzel, Katie Eggert, and the rest of the Signature Weddings & Events team.

Michele Rene and her team of Hair and Make-up Artists at Michele Rene the Studio kept us feeling beautiful with their talent and energized with their personalities.

To complete our wedding dream team, we worked with Chirali and Amish Thakkar at Fine Art Productions, who not only captured beautiful moments and relationships, but also created a fun and lively atmosphere which continuously reminded us of what we were celebrating.
